Complex Carbs, what are they?

Complex Carbs are those carbohydrates that enter your system slowly, or digest in your stomach slowly. Providing you a prolonged stream of nutrients.

Simple carbs are those carbohydrates that enter your system very rapidly, or digest in your stomach very quickly. Spiking your insulin and resulting in high levels of glucose in your blood.

Complex carbs break down slowly in your digestive track and give you a constant and steady stream on nutrients which refrain from spiking your insulin and glucose levels. This types of carbs are essential for NOT over eating and maintain your body in a comfortable feeling.

Simple carbs digest so rapidly that they often make us feel hungry about an hour after eating.

Things you should consider.

Instant Quaker Flavored Oatmeal General:
Principle nutrition facts:
Calories 160
Fat 2 g
Carbohydrates 33g
Dietary Fiber 3 g
Soluble Fiber 1g
Sugar 13g
Protein 4g

Sounds good huh? All those wonder full flavors, but wait! What is that,
SUGAR 13G!?

Sugar for what? Oh, that's right "taste".

Now your meal just became a hidden Simple Carb meal which we try to avoid.

What sugar does is spike the insulin, realising glucose into your blood stream. What does excess glucose do it not used? That's right, add to your waist line.

Instant NON-Flavored Oatmeal.
Principle nutrition facts
Calories 100 60 less the flavored kind
Fat 2 g
Carbohydrates 33g 14 less the flavored kind
Dietary Fiber 3 g
Soluble Fiber 1g
Sugar 13g 13 less the flavored kind
Protein 4g

What does this mean? This means that you are not only eating less calories, less carbs, and less sugar, you are able to eat more of the product, making you feel more full.

It is a known fact that people on restrictive diets, who need to loose weight quickly, feel like that are starving.

Based on my example here, you could eat a little more of the NON-Flavored kind of Oatmeal giving your body the full feeling it needs to be comfortable. Not only are you feeling more full, you are cutting out the bad items from part of your required diet.

It is a win - win situation.

Try this:

Instant NON-Flavored Oatmeal
Mix in Cinnamon to desired taste
Mix in Ginger to desired taste
Mix in small palm amount of peanuts, cashews, walnuts (high in Omeaga 3) or other favorite nut, adds crunchy desire.
Mix in small amount of dried cranberries, bananas or other fruits. Adds sweet desire.
Splash of Hazelnut, or Caramel coffee flavoring and I mean a splash, anything larger then the 1/2 cap full and you blew it. Adds to enhance flavoring and sweetness.
Optional
1/4 scoop protein powder mix of any flavor you like. Adds to the overall protein impacted.
Now you have a high complex carb meal with your added good for you body flavoring seasons, antioxidants from the dried fruits, and a delicious meal.

Have with a glass of green tea and you now have yourself 3 parts to a diet pill as well, but don't tell anyone that is a secret. ;)

Loosing Weight

Loosing weight is not always FAT loss, you can also loose muscle mass.

Fasting thing to loose muscle, DIET (starving, more later).

Your body relays on the best sources of nutrition to survive and maintain it self.
Which is better for you?

Lean steak or tub of Crisco?

Your body sure knows.

This is part of the idea behind eating 6 meals a day in proper nutrition requirements, your are not starving (DIETING) so you have the fuel to loose that fat you want gone.

Starvation - basically your body becomes super efficient at using the scarce resources it is given and often at times uses the higher quality resources first, i.e. eating your muscle to survive while leaving the fat as a back up source when all the muscle is gone.

Please don't starve. You wouldn't like to see the picture I found trying to brush up a little while searching.

Fat and Rich or Healthy and Rich?

"Fat and Rich is a oxymoron"
As stated by World Renowned Economist, and author Paul Zane Pilzer.

People who are getting older, are looking for something to live longer, age better, and feel better. No longer are they staying overweight, but they buying the products and services that will help them better understand and educate them to live better. They are becoming healthier and more physically fit.

The problem in the industry is an Economic problem not a biology problem, and the results hold true.

Food manufactures make foods which target the existing customers not new customer's. This is caused because it is easier to get a one time customer to purchase again then it is to find new customers. The processed food industry makes products that are cheaper then the natural healthier alternatives, I.E. fast food restaurants, frozen dinners and other packaged meals.

So those people who do not have a very good incomes look towards the cheaper foods and are the people who unfortunately buy these products that can be worse for us as consumers. With the invention of the "dollar" menu at local fast food restaurants and buy (2) get on FREE advertisements in local grocery stores, no wonder we are buying these lower quality products. These products often contain "fillers" or preservatives that give the meal a large portion however do not provide nutritional backing.

Those who have better incomes have more time and as a result eat healthier and seek better advice and products. For example look at celebrities in Hollywood. They have a lot more time than the typical person because they have a better income; as a result they are able to purchase products that can benefit them more than those who cannot afford them.

As a result the poor get heavier and the rich get thinner.

However this does not need to be the case for everyone. We can all learn a little something from education and research.

Did you know that 65% of the population is overweight and of that 25% are clinically obese?

Which category do you "fit" into?

Type 2 Diabetes...easy?

So many people are under the believe or assumption that Type 2 Diabetes is easy to over come. If this were true, why do we still have approximately 15 million Americans with this disease?

So believe it is based on obesity, that every "fat" person will contract this disease. This is NOT true. Obesity triggers the disease to surface, however does not cause people to contract this. Most, not all, but most people with Diabetes are born with a Pancreas deficiency, which will cause low levels of blood glucose, causing Type 2 Diabetes.

Unfortunately for most people simple diet and exercise is not enough to overcome this disease.
I am a personal test to that. I spent a year working out and modifying my diet, thinking I was OK. Until one day I nearly collapsed in the streets of New York while on vacation. It was after that I did further research into this disease.

This disease took my grandfather’s life along with complications of the effects on his body. This disease has also taken my mothers life, incapcitating her ability to hold a job because of the need of regular timely food and insulin medication.

You think it is easy when it is not. You may study the right foods to eat and strive in the gym for some time only to realise you stopped short and still have symptoms. It took my enough to nearly collapse to perfect my diet to a point of overcoming this disease. Blurred vision, clammy skin, faintness, loosing color, etc.

While this may be the minor form of the disease, it is very scary.
If you seek further knowledge, this is one good article to read.

What makes a true health enthusiast?

Is it going to the gym?
Wrong
Is it reading the latest diet plans from your magazine?
Wrong
Is it being a personal trainer?
Not necessarily
What makes a true health enthusiast is someone who is passionate about providing others health tips, whether for free or by some book they write or seminar they put on. A true health enthusiast is someone who shares a life long passion about themselves to serve themselves and their bodies better. Doesn't have to be a Doctor, or physician or even a personal trainer.

I find that many people share a passion for a better future through the use of proper nutrition, health and wellness. However few people actually take this information to heart or beyond. Most people read a few items, think they know everything, then quit. Those people often loose site of their goals and choose to except things just because. It is also said that most people quit right before they start to see results. What a shame.

What is the purpose of working out, dieting, starving (like some do) or putting yourself through things that you really don't like to do. I mean come on, who seriously loves the gym. We hate the gym, but live the results and what we are doing for ourselves. If you workout for yourself and not others, you will progress further. Although the support of others helps, you must first have the inner desire to change, because without the inner desire, you will not push hard enough and waste your time.

After all if we were not true enthusiasts and we don't share the inner desire, why would we push ourselves that hard in the gym everyday?

Imagine a perfect you!

Better Sleep, More Energy, More lifestyle, More Happiness!

That all can be achieve with proper nutrition.
Why guess at what you should take as for a supplement. When you buy a supplement, most supplements are made for the "general" public, these supplements are not gene specific.

However I have been looking at something for a short while now that will change all that. This new supplement is made directly from your DNA from test kit which you, as the customer, uses and sends back to the company.

The test is wholly confidential and all materials are destroyed after use. Your information is then turned into an electronic scanned file for storage and your name is no longer used. That information is then reviewed and sent to your home for your own benefit. After that a gene specific formula is made from your DNA and shipped to your house in the form of a vitamin supplement.

You can choose to add additional supplements to your specific results as you see fit, at any time!
For Example:
You run marathons, jog, or play sports a lot, you may want to add Glucosamine to your supplement to better support your joints. This can be added.

Why take several different capsules of many different bottles of vitamins, when you can receive this nutrition all in one?
I say throw away your old nutritional supplements and start over with a DNA and GENE specific product.

This product has been in development for many years by a panel of scientist, they are just now getting to place this on the market! After years of development and testing to insure that this product does and will continue to do what is it meant to do, it's no wonder these men feel like it is a life achievement.
Even the government wants to place our troops on the product!

The supplement make up is 90% organic even uses a vegetable outside casing. Currently the only ingredient that is not manufactured in a non-synthetic form is Vitamin B which is added to the standard form of this supplement system.

DNA Pills?

If your into the health market your probably have never seen this yet. I know I have an extensive history in health and I have never heard of anything like this even being available to the public...until now.

GeneLink a 14 year old Bio-Sciences company is planning to launch new direct selling marketing division: GeneWize Life Sciences, to the market in August of 2008.
GeneWize offers to the public the ability to 100% personalize your vitamins based on a DNA assessment test. This assessment test is a revolutionary new health and beauty products concept and will absolutely change the way people's decision of personal health products.

This is Personalized Nutrition System (click to see)

The LifeMap system is a technologically advanced, DNA-guided, customized nutritional system based on your own unique genetic code. The same company that developed the world's First and ONLY DNA-Guided Skin Care System is now introducing a completely customized nutrition product that anyone can afford. This is advanced genetic nutrition - focused on YOU!" from parent host site.

With the baby boomer era starting to retire and becoming a higher demand on the health industry the market has been flooded with ideas of great products. However, these products are not exactly for a particular person. These so called "one size fits all" vitamins just aren't enough anymore. The demand for these products is now and the human Genome research that has been worked on for over 20 years is starting to pay off for the health industry.

Scientific studies have proven that proper nutrition can actually help to increase DNA strands to preform to there full potential. This same result has been shown to actually proven future damaged strands from preventing illnesses as well.

In a further study done by University of California Berkeley professor Jasper Rine has included:

"University of California, Berkeley, scientists, however, have found a welcome reason to delve into your genetic heritage: to find the slight genetic flaws that can be fixed with remedies as simple as vitamin or mineral supplements."

"Looked at in one way, Bruce found that you can cure a genetic disease in bacteria by treating it with vitamins," Rine said. Because the human genome contains about 6 billion DNA base pairs, each one subject to mutation, there could be between 3 and 6 million DNA sequence differences between any two people. Given those numbers, he reasoned that, as in bacteria, "there should be people who are genetically different in terms of the amount of vitamin needed for optimal performance of their enzymes."
