Lifestyle Change

This is not a diet in anyway. Its learning about foods and general nutrition. Learning about what to eat to maintain a health weight. This will also will help those on a diet, that hate their diets. Diets are for those who are not willing to learn the information on their own but require guidelines. Lifestyle changes are for those who are willing to take that information to the next level and incorporate it into everyday life.

Trim through the holidays

I stayed on track with my hotel accommodations. Had to take the stairs many times while carrying varies bags up and down. Helped to keep the weight off from all the holiday goodness.

I also watched what I eat, as not to over eat or eat too much sugary substances. So many desserts, too much sugar. Its nice to splurge a little, however too much and I will be back at my high school weight before long if I continued that.

Splurge a Little

Dieting is not all about the foods you can't eat. However it is about maintain what you eat. Watch your normal diet to stay your normal weight, then cut when you need to loose some and add when you need to gain some. Maintaining eating the healthier foods is critical.

I say splurge a little. With the holidays fast approaching us, one can easily get off track. What I do to make sure I eat right and maintenance is to have one off meal a week, so I don't go over board. I get to eat one meal of anything I wish on the weekends as a reward to myself. I sometimes even eat cake or have ice cream during this meal, two things which are really bad for you if added regularly.

Doing this prevents me from cracking under the dieting pressure. If you are on such a strict diet you forget how bad those holiday foods can be on your body. Then you crack, and splurge on everything often over eating. Then you feel guilty. This routine reminds me how delicious this foods are, but also since my change in eating I feel the difference from these items more frequently. As a reminder I eat them only once a week to tell myself that I don't miss them.

Diabetes, can it be fought and won?

I believe it can. Back when I was 20, I had symptoms of diabetes. Got the low sugar headaches and everything. Now after I changed my diet and regularly exercise, I no longer have those symptoms.
Diabetes is hereditary yes. However I think it is also due to poor diet management. In the earlier stages, one can modify diet to rid ones self from the trouble outcome. If someone can identify the symptoms early and prevent further damage to the body through proper diet this can be achieved. I'm living proof.

Atleast three is the key, for starters

People really should eat the three key meals a day, including some additional meals to up their metabolism. I plan to focus here some about the three key meals in a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Breakfast - This is a no-brainer. think about it. Can you go through the day without food for 6-9 hours, no, so why should you wake up and not eat in the AM within the first hour? You shouldn't. You should be eating within 1 hour of waking up.
Breakfast also replenishes the nutrients you have lost over the course of the sleep. Sleep is where you body regrows, which requires a great deal of nutrients. So you should replenish what was lost during this time.

Lunch - Simple, you crash after a few hours of not having food. Ever feel very tired prior to lunch? That's because you body requires the nutrients involved with lunch to proceed through the rest of the day. However lunch should not be a very large filling meal, rather something simpler and smaller then your breakfast or dinner.

Dinner - Is like a rejuvenation meal after your hard day. You require that last bit of nutrients to re-supply what was used in your daily routines. This doesn't mean eat like a hog, but the right ingredients to maintain your low fat weight and keep your strength.

For Example: Try moving furniture all day, you feel very hungry, the damage done to your body while moving a lot of items makes you hungry because your body is in need of regrowth. Hunger is the need to replenish the fuel used to help regrow your body. You require a balanced breakfast to start the day, a nutritious lunch to help you maintain your work load and a fulfilling dinner to help promote recovery.

If you already eat three meals a day then your doing good. Now try to increase that to 5-6 a day having small meals throughout the day without over eating at any meal. 5-6 meals a day keeps the body burning that energy because it has an abundance of income to burn with. Your metabolism stays on track and on fire like a incinerator.

A little bit less

One huge difference in a lifestyle change is when it comes to eating. Most people eat until stuffed full and can not eat any more. This is a very bad habit. You should normally eat until you feel full and not stuffed.

Typically one serving of food is enough for most people to feel full. Of course this all depends on how much you have worked that day and your body type. If you happen to be very large or have a fast metabolism then the numbers would be different naturally. Its up to you to fully decide what is right for this example to work properly. You could also cut large meals down into two separate parts to ensure you do not over eat or stuff yourself.

A little bit extra

A little bit extra effort a day can go a long way. What this means is that all you have to do is park further from the store to walk a little more. Try carrying a basket at the supermarket instead of pushing a cart, unless you really require a cart. Take to the streets if you live in a city with sidewalks and you can walk to lunch within reasonable time. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Use simple judgement of where you can get just a little extra out of your daily routines.

With these simple modification to your routines you can, for instance, keep your weight in check or get in better shape based on your current situation. If you take a flight of stairs and get winded, then you are obviously not in shape and need to work harder before health problems set it. For older able adults this is a great way to ward off osteoporosis.

Remebering life as a child

Remember your life as a child? Life was easy and sooo care free. You didn’t have to worry about anything. Eat all the cake you want, eat all the bags of chips your lips could handle, and soda, oh forget it, it was nothing but Cool Aid and sugar water all day long. No Fruits, no veggies, no yucky healthy foods here no sir.

We used to run around outside in the middle of summer. Playing every sport you could think of from baseball to dirt biking. Never got hurt, never even flinched at the sight of our own blood when we fell. We felt invincible and lived like it to.

Oh how times have changed now. We get hurt, we cry, we work hard, we get sore, we go outside and complain about the heat. Can’t eat the foods we wish to eat. No indulging in wonderful deserts or extravagant meals unless we planning on buying larger clothes.

I know everyone can relate to this scenario in one way at a time or another. It’s a wonderful quality that sadly we lose as we get older. However we can learn to control and build ourselves up to a point that we can once again be like our former child selves. Its takes dedication and hard work and a lot of heart to succeed in gaining back some of that former youth I’m sure we all miss.
